Treatment and Interventions in High Conflict Custody Cases in Light of Allegations of Domestic Violence

Speakers:            Cynthia Lischick, Ph.D., Hon. Hany Mawla, J.A.D.; Ann Ordway, Ph.D., J.D.;

and Amy Z. Shimalla, Esq.

 

Please join us for our annual dinner, elections and presentation of the Philip N. Sobel Award, followed by a an intermediate-level program by our distinguished panel focusing on the dynamics of domestic violence and coercive control, Dr. Ordway’s research on parenting coordination with families experiencing intimate partner violence, and how and under what circumstances parenting coordination, mediation and other interventions are appropriate for these families.

 

Psychologists, mental health professionals, family lawyers and judges will be able to:

1) describe the varying dynamics of domestic violence and coercive control in high conflict cases

2) utilize structures to screen, assess and  differentiate those dynamics in ADR cases using AFCC Guidelines and Model Standards

3) assess Risk & Resiliency Factors for Safety, Lethality in ADR Cases involving domestic violence

4) explain when parenting coordination is appropriate for families with domestic violence dynamics and describe the screening process for that determination.

5) identify strategies to adapt parenting coordination for families with IPV dynamics (Adaptive Parenting Coordination for Intimate Partner Violence).

6) analyze specific needs of IPV victims in shared parenting arrangements to increase overall PC process efficacy with this population.

7) assess how and when to refer clients to the domestic violence court mediation program

Annual Meeting and Presentation of Philip N. Sobel Award:  5:45 – 6:00 p.m.

Dinner begins at 6:00, followed by the program at 6:30 p.m.
