Beginning in the late summer of 2013, members of the New Jersey Council of Collaborative Practice Groups met with members of the legislature to introduce them to the collaborative divorce process and propose support for the introduction of the New Jersey Collaborative Law Act drafted by the New Jersey Law Revision Commission.

All of the meetings were arranged by Valerie Brown, our lobbyist.

The draft Act has been introduced to the legislature by Asm Patrick Diegnan (D-South Plainfield) who also sponsored the Uniform Mediation Act and the bill for no fault divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.

Participating in these meetings were:

Sen. Robert Singer (R-Ocean),
Sen. Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro),
Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth),
Sen. Diane Allen (R-Burlington),
Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-Jersey City), and our first meeting with a staffer from the office of
Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck).
